Birth bag unpacked!

I know y’all wanna see what’s in my birth bag…
This is an assortment of all the essentials I bring to a birth, whether I’m joining you at home or in the hospital. When I’m on call, I have this packed and ready by my front door!

Allllll the snacks: HOMEMADE BONE BROTH!! Such a great tonic full of electrolytes and key minerals and nutrients to keep mamas hydrated and healthy through labor, and nourished in immediate postpartum.
Pineapple is an amazing snack with prostaglandins that can help ripen and dilate your cervix.
Coconut water for mama or me 😉
Protein bars. Dried fruit. Caffeinated tea. All things to keep us chugging.

Hot and cold packs that are easily warmed//cooled to use on the lower back, shoulders, and head to relieve tension and soothe aches and contractions.
Tactile stress balls are a great way to ease tension, distract, and provide distinct sensations anywhere on the body.

Aromatherapy diffuser. I use a variety of different essential oils at different stages during birth, according to mama’s preferences. Scents to keep calm and relaxed. Blends to stay focused and invigorated.

Spare baby blanket, nursing bra, lanolin cream for sore nipples, hand lotion.

The Evidence Based Birth pocket guides are a handy informative tool that anyone can easily access. Really helpful when wanting more information in a pinch.
The Birth Partner is a book everyone should have, pregnant or not! @penny.simkin is a wonder, and this guide is both thorough and sweet.

Always come bearing flowers 🌻🌻🌻

Not pictured: spare change of clothes//pajamas in case things take time or fluids happen. Portable speaker in case you’d like sound and music—it’s your party! Warm socks. And me, ever-giddy and ready to join you and your birth team 🥳♥️
